"Since 2012, a specialized method was developed at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin to localize deep brain stimulation electrodes in the brain of e.g. patients suffering from Parkinson’s Disease based on postoperative imaging. The method was implemented in a software tool (www.lead-dbs.org) and is being used in research centers worldwide. Within the project funded by Stiftung Charité, the software could now be successfully certified as a Class I Medical Product conforming to European 93/42/EWG standards."
