Happy Holidays from Stiftung Charité

We will be taking a break between Christmas and New Year’s, returning on January 2, 2025. During the holiday season, we’ll take the opportunity to reflect on the past year:

This year, Stiftung Charité has gained around 120 remarkable individuals as grantees – funding them as Clinical Fellows, Visiting Fellows, or within the science x media tandem program. Additionally, we have awarded the Max Rubner Award and provided funding for projects and events. Furthermore, we have renewed our commitment to the BIH Charité Clinician Scientist Program with Internationalization Grants on one hand and new positions for Clinician Scientists focusing on digital translation on the other.

We also hosted various events this year, including a Networking Event for the medical students at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and, in October, our inaugural Stiftung Charité Welcome Reception to celebrate our new grantees. Both formats will become annual fixtures.

We engage in close dialogue with our funding recipients when interviewing them for our FACES series. We conducted interviews across various Charité locations in 2024. You can catch up on how Professor Sven Märdian and his colleagues initiated ‘Trauma Platform Berlin’ and how this structure provides a solution to current challenges in trauma surgery for the major hospitals in the capital; how Professor Meryam Schouler-Ocak, together with TV presenter Dilek Üsük, launched a science communication project specifically for the Turkish-speaking community in Germany to raise awareness about depression in a culturally sensitive way; read about why Dr. Kilian Kreutzer trained in transoral robot-assisted surgery as a BIH Clinical Fellow; and how Professor Akira-Sebastian Poncette illustrates the benefits of Charité’s ongoing digitalization using the example of patient monitoring.

Stiftung Charité wishes you a joyful holiday season and a Happy New Year!
