Fourteen scientists funded by Stiftung Charité have been named among the “Highly Cited Researchers 2024,” representing the top one percent of the world’s most cited researchers as identified by Clarivate in their annual analysis. The evaluation covered 20 fields across medicine, natural sciences, economics, and social sciences.
The distinguished researchers are:
Prof. John P. A. Ioannidis, Prof. Brian K. Kobilka, and Prof. Thomas C. Südhof (all from Stanford University, USA), Prof. David J. Mooney and Prof. Chris Sander (both from Harvard University, USA), and from the Berlin research community: Prof. Nikolaus Rajewsky (Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine), Prof. Gerd-Rüdiger Burmester, Prof. Christoph U. Correll, Prof. Christian Drosten, Prof. Christian Gaebler, Prof. Ulf Landmesser, Prof. Marcel A. Müller, and Prof. Frank Tacke (all from Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin), as well as Prof. Friedemann Paul (Experimental and Clinical Research Center of Charité and MDC).
The Highly Cited lists, which have been published since 2001, are based on data from Web of Science. Clarivate notes that the methodology behind identifying these citation leaders becomes more sophisticated each year to maintain credible results and prevent distortions from questionable publication practices and potential manipulation.
Germany has maintained its strong position from the previous year, ranking fourth globally, surpassed only by the United States (1st), China (2nd), and the United Kingdom (3rd).
