“The aim of our project was to improve patient education at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin using Pocketdoctor (PD) patient education scripts. Therefore we conducted a pilot feasibility study to assess whether a patient-centered education using PD scripts could be incorporated into patient counseling during outpatient visits for those with an established diagnosis of diabetes, inguinal hernia, myocardial infarction, stroke and appendicitis. The vast majority of patients evaluated felt comfortable with the PD scripts gaining additional knowledge to their specific disease. Major criticism was the small font size and sizes of the graphic design. Furthermore patients were highly interested more PD scripts about other diseases such as chronic pulmonary lung disease.”
