Beyond publications, we discussed our approach to phenotyping using smartphone-based apps with patients and relatives in our advisory board of the collaborative research center (CRC-TR 265). This approach was accordingly introduced in the Fall Session of this Board in 2020 and again in the Spring Session 2021. Patients and relatives provided very helpful feedback on personally relevant dimensions of substance use disorders. This approach will also be continued in the new German Centre for Mental Health, where the Charité application (with further colleagues from Berlin and Brandenburg) focuses on participatory research, which includes patients and relatives as stakeholders and experts with respect to their personal experience.
