As part of the Perinatal Palliative Medicine project, the first interprofessional and interdisciplinary prenatal consultative service in Germany for pregnant women expecting a child with a life-shortening, incurable disease was initiated, formalized, and scientifically evaluated at the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin.

New instructional paradigms for training and continuing education in the field of perinatal palliative medicine were implemented, with the Neonatology Clinic at Charité becoming the only neonatology clinic in Germany to receive authorization to provide advanced perinatal training in palliative medicine.
