"In the "OGGLUEDER" project, a bioresorbable stent was developed as a carrier for an endogenous heart valve for growing children. In seven work packages, a suitable material was found, the stent design was created and a coating process was established in collaboration With three industrial partners by researchers from the Department of Paediatric Cardiology at Charité. In laboratory tests, the prototype was examined for its properties and prepared for a first application in animals. The resorption behaviour of the stent in the body will soon be investigated in sheep before a heart valve made of the body's own tissue is inserted and tested With the carrier stent instead of the pulmonary heart valve in a further step."
