In order to improve patient-centered care concepts in oncology, instruments for the systematic screening and assessment of supportive and palliative support needs of tumor patients and their relatives have been developed. The results of qualitative studies were the basis for research on digital support tools, specific intervention measures and supply research projects. Overall, these data promote the quality of oncological care and the interdisciplinary and multi-professional cooperation of oncological care teams. At the same time, the data influenced the requirements for specialized cancer centers, internal standards and care settings and showed a significant degree of effectiveness through intensive discussions in internal training courses as well as national and international conferences.
