On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, we are hosting a public event as part of the 16th Berliner Stiftungswoche. The Stiftungswoche showcases the work funding organizations and charities do in the German capital. We cordially invite you to join us at the lecture hall ruins of the Berlin Museum of Medical History!
Under the heading “Medicine of Excellence in the Future – Between the Right to Health, Resource Scarcity, and the Freedom to be Unreasonable,” an expert from a statutory health insurance provider (tbc) and literary author David Wagner will discuss with Professor Angelika Eggert (pediatric oncologist, Director Department of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology) and Professor Susanne Michl (medical ethicist, Vice Dean of Education for the Life and Health Sciences), both from Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. The German-language conversation will be moderated by Sascha Karberg (science journalist, Der Tagesspiegel).
Together, the panel will shed light on the handling of predictive diagnostics and address major questions that are already challenging our society or will do so in the near future: How can we guarantee health as a human right while respecting individual freedoms? How fair is the healthcare system – what role do social participation and access barriers play? Can digitalization help address these issues? And what might a just healthcare system of the future look like?
Following the moderated discussion, we invite you to an open exchange with the panelists.
When: Tuesday, April 8, 2025, 3:00 – 4:30 PM (Doors open at 2:30 PM)
Where: Berlin Museum of Medical History at the Charité, lecture hall ruins, Virchowweg 16, 10117 Berlin
